OUR
VENUE

The Starry Plough celebrated 30 years in
2003, and The Berkeley Slam has shared 5 of those years.
Owned by Rose and Mehrdad, The Starry Plough is a Berkeley
institution (from its collectively-run days to the present
family business status).
The venue has always been a hot-spot
for organizing local, national, and international policy,
politics and community-building,
and many organizations have met and gotten their start
here. Poetry, along with politics, has a venerable spot
at the venue. Rose and Mehrdad have helped our slam create
our first CD, and on the wall of the bar is a muralized
tribute quote praising the hand-in-hand relationship
of revolution and poetry.
In addition to the Berkeley Slam, the venue hosts a performance
open mic, Irish music and dancing, and rock music weekly.
It boasts a full kitchen (open from 11 AM to 10 PM),
beer, cider and root beer on tap, and wine to drink. Where it is, How to get there.
The Berkeley Slam is held every Wednesday
at The Starry
Plough, 3101 Shattuck Avenue
